We've tracked Cheddr since it surfaced on the a16z Speedrun portfolio page, this update reflects what the operator's own pages disclose as of May 2026.

The Quick Take

Cheddr is the most unusual sweepstakes product we cover. There's no slot library, no live dealer, no crash games. It's a sports-prediction app where you swipe through prop cards on NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, college football, college basketball, and soccer. The legal scaffolding is the same dual-currency setup every sweepstakes platform uses, Cheddr Coins (CC, no cash value) and Cheddr Cash (CCH, redeemable), but the gameplay is closer to a daily fantasy pick'em than to Pulsz or Stake.us.

The welcome offer is 5,000 CC + 50 CCH on signup. The CC is play money. The 50 CCH is the redeemable side, and the size of the rollover that sits behind it is the part Cheddr does not document plainly anywhere we could find. More on that below.

First, the Domain Issue

Before anything else: the working URL is cheddr.xyz. The.com is a parked domain on a third-party marketplace and is not affiliated with the operator. If you searched for Cheddr and landed on a domain-for-sale page, that's not them. The iOS app and the.xyz site are the only entry points the operator itself documents.

The.xyz /.com split is the kind of thing that costs a sweepstakes brand trust, especially when the average user assumes a missing.com means the operator has folded. For a company that took institutional capital from a16z, paying for the matching.com is a low-cost trust signal that's still on the to-do list.

Operator and Backers

Cheddr Inc. Is the operator on file. The operator's own materials credit CEO Jason Krupat and CPO Katelyn Friedson as founders, with the company seeded through Andreessen Horowitz's Speedrun program (cohort 004). Speedrun is a16z's accelerator track for games and consumer apps, not a hands-off seed check, portfolio companies go through a structured onboarding and get listed on the public Speedrun portfolio.

We don't have a parent company in our records, and the operator hasn't published one. The App Store developer listing surfaces a separate corporate entity (Moonjolt Media Corporation), which is consistent with how a lot of small game studios separate their app-publishing entity from the operating company. Take that with a grain of salt, without a regulator listing or a public S-1, we can't fully trace the corporate stack the way we can for VGW or Stake.com.

Where Cheddr lands relative to the rest of the field: most sweepstakes operators we cover are either VGW family, Stake-affiliated, or independent mid-tier brands with 2-5 years of live history. Cheddr is the only a16z-backed entry on our shortlist. That's a credibility signal, not a guarantee, venture backing tells us the cap table is institutional, not that redemptions clear in 24 hours.

What Cheddr Actually Does

The product is sports picks delivered as a swipe feed. Each card shows a market, moneyline, spread, total, or a Pick'em-style proposition, and you tap to lock it in. The seven sports listed by the operator: NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAAF, NCAAB, and soccer. Live in-play markets exist on the bigger sports, depth on college and soccer is thinner from what I can tell.

You play in either currency. CC picks are pure free-play and don't ladder toward redemption. CCH picks resolve into more CCH if you win and start eating into rollover requirements as you play, which is where the mechanics get interesting and where Cheddr diverges from the standard sweepstakes-casino model.

Pick'em Contests Are the Hook

Pick'em contests, pick a slate of N props correctly, win a share of a CCH prize pool, are the headline format. They function as the AMOE-equivalent free-entry mechanism: enter using CC, place on the leaderboard, and the top finishers receive CCH prizes. This is the legal backbone of how Cheddr operates as a sweepstakes (no purchase necessary) rather than as a sportsbook.

Compared to Underdog Fantasy's Pick'em product (which is a daily-fantasy-sports legal framework, not sweepstakes), Cheddr's contests are smaller, less liquid, and limited to iOS. Underdog's slates regularly have five- and six-figure first-place prize pools, Cheddr's are an order of magnitude smaller in beta. If you're chasing leaderboard EV, Underdog is the better game. If you're in a state where DFS is restricted and sweepstakes isn't, Cheddr is one of the only options that exists at all.

The Track-Based Rollover

This is the part where I have to hedge harder than I'd like, because the operator's terms aren't crisp on it. From what I can tell, Cheddr doesn't use a single flat 1× or 5× playthrough requirements on CCH. Instead, each batch of CCH you receive, from a contest win, from a mail-in entry, from a purchase bonus, is tracked as its own bucket with its own rollover requirement. The oldest bucket clears first, and if you bust the bucket before you complete its rollover, the remaining CCH in that bucket is forfeited along with whatever rollover you hadn't yet cleared.

I haven't looked into this enough to put a precise multiplier on it because the operator doesn't publish one in the user-facing terms I read, and the in-app disclosure is what most users actually see. Either way, the track structure is more punishing than a flat 1× because variance can wipe a bucket before you cross the line. In a flat 1× system on a -110 line, you can lose half your plays and still walk out with a redeemable balance, your rollover counts down regardless of W/L. On a per-track depletion system, a cold streak in the wrong order can zero out the bucket and forfeit everything in it.

The numbers don't lie, but they need context: until Cheddr publishes the actual track parameters, I can't compute an effective bonus value the way I would for Stake.us (which discloses a 1× SC playthrough plainly) or Pulsz (which uses a flat multiplier that's easy to math out). 3. Cheddr's product is sports-adjacent, which puts it closer to states' sports-playthrough statutes than a slot-only sweepstakes platform. Operators in this corner of the market tend to err on the side of broader exclusion until counsel signs off jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction.

Practical takeaway: if you're in one of the 17 prohibited states, the app blocks at registration. If you're in one of the 33 eligible states, you can register but should expect the prohibited list to evolve as state regulators continue working through sweepstakes policy in 2026.

Trust, Safety, and What's Missing

Let me lay out what we have and don't have on file:

• License number: Not on file. Sweepstakes platforms in the US generally don't carry a gaming license the way real-money operators do, they operate under sweepstakes promotional law, so this isn't unusual, but it also means there's no regulator backstop the way there would be for an MGA or NJDGE-licensed site.

Who This Is For

Worth a look if you're: An iOS user in one of the 33 eligible states who likes sports picks, wants to try the swipe-feed format, and is happy treating the 50 CCH welcome as a small free trial. The CC side of the platform costs nothing and gives you a real read on whether the format suits you.

Probably not for you if you: Use Android (you literally can't access it), want a casino game library (Cheddr has none), need clear rollover and redemption terms before buying coins (the operator hasn't published them at the level of detail we'd want), or want a multi-year operator track record before putting real money in (Cheddr is months old).

The Bottom Line

Cheddr is interesting. The team is real, the backing is real, the product idea is genuinely different from anything else in sweepstakes. But it's on our shortlist, not our ranked list, for a reason: the redemption disclosures aren't where they need to be, the rollover mechanics aren't plainly documented, the platform footprint is iOS-only, and the operating history is measured in months.
